Governor Bob Taft signed H.B. 272, also known as the Defensive of Marriage Act (DOMA) into law. The law defines marriage as being between one woman and one man. Nine months later, on November 2, state voters approved an amendment to the Ohio constitution that reaffirmed this definition.
